Pope Francis convened and presided over the 2021-2024 Synod on Synodality, a multi-year, worldwide process of dialogue and listening intended to foster a more synodal church focused on communion, participation, and mission.

Synodal special team in Japan held a series of study sessions on September 4th and 8th, inviting the Synod’s General Relator Jean-Claude Cardinal Hollerich, S.J., Archbishop of Luxembourg as a lecturer.

On the 4th at the Archbishop’s Residence in Osaka of the Archdiocese of Osaka Takamatsu, for the bishops of the 15 dioceses and their respective diocesan representatives; On the 8th at the Japan Catholic Center in Tokyo, for the staff of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Japan;

After the Cardinal Hollerich’s lecture, “Conversations in the Spirit” followed to deepen participants’ understanding of the Synodal theme “A Church that Walks Together” and its Final Document.
