The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Japan has determined that the issue of HIV/AIDS is a serious problem that cannot be overlooked and has worked on HIV/AIDS awareness-raising activities since 1995. This section which was previously a desk became independent from Caritas Japan in September 2010 and was renamed a section in February 2025. It provides Catholic churches and schools with the latest and most accurate information on HIV/AIDS, sex and human rights, and sex education, which are areas that people are increasingly losing interest in and tend to think of as something that doesn’t concern them.
